Move On-Demand With Zootly!

Zootly is an On-Demand Moving Service in NYC -

I find it somewhat funny that I’m sharing a moving service with you right after I “moved” the blog to a new domain.

Anyways, as many of you who live in NYC know, moving in the city is possibly one of the worst experiences EVER.  I still have nightmares about the time my two roommates and I moved from Williamsburg to the Upper East Side, all by ourselves. Three of us loaded our belonging into a U-haul, and since I was the only girl, I was tasked with carrying the lighter items up four flights of stairs. I must have made hundreds of trips up and down the stairs that day – especially since I think the boys were punishing me for packing in plastic garbage bags.

Since then, I’ve always paid for a moving service – usually the two men and a van ads you find hanging around the streets. As I’m preparing for my next move this winter, I’m planning on hiring something a little more reputable because we are moving about an hour away – and that’s why I’m excited that I just heard of Zootly.

Zootly is an on-demand moving service. You can use Zootly to move your entire apartment or just help you pick up a cool piece you scored off Craigslist with a few taps on your smartphone. Explain your moving needs  – how much you are moving, where you are going from and to – to get a quick quote. You can select that you need to move immediately – perfect for those furniture finds on the street – or you can pick a date into the future.

Who will move you? The movers are licensed, insured, and experienced moving partners, and you can track movers and trucks on your phone.

No matter how much you are moving, you’ll receive a minimum of two movers to do the heavy lifting for you. And whether you are moving between boroughs or to the ‘burbs, Zootly moves within a 100 mile radius of Manhattan and plans to expand to other major U.S. cities in 2016.

To download the Zootly app, visit the iTunes App Store or Google Play. I gave it a try, just to get a quote. I shared how much I was moving, what floor I was on, and where I was moving to and got a quote of $892. While I’m not sure if that price is on-par for moving an hour away, what I do know is I like that the service is transparent and gives you a quote upfront, perfect if you feel the need to comparison shop.

$892?! We paid that much four years ago when we moved two miles away from our old place. I hope they expand to Chicago before we move again next year!
